If you think you are stuck wearing glasses for the remainder of your life because you wear bifocals or multifocals, you can rest easy. The solution is multifocal contact lenses. Multifocal contact lenses work much the same way that your bifocals work, except you don’t have to wear them on your face, they go in your eyes just like any other contact lenses. However, like glasses, you do remove them at night when you go to bed and place them in their case.
Proclear multifocal contact lenses are some of the most popular multifocal contact lenses on the market today. The reason Proclear are so popular is because they have a new PC Technology that keeps your contact lenses comfortable for wearing for the whole day.

PC stands for phosphorylcholine, which is what Proclear multifocal contact lenses are made of. Phosphorylcholine is a substance that is found in human cells which attract water or moisture. Because the lenses are made of this substance, they, too, attract moisture and therefore they don’t dry out.
Many people who wear contact lenses have a problem called contact awareness. This is the time of day that they become aware that they are wearing contacts because their eyes feel dry and itchy and they become red and irritated. This happens because their contact lenses have lost moisture and begun to shrink. This won’t happen with the PC Technology in Proclear multifocal contact lenses.
There are other contact lenses that have a moisture technology, such as Extreme H20 contact lenses, but it is a different kind of technology and Extreme H20 does not at this time offer multifocal contact lenses.
The price for multifocal contact lenses is going to be higher than the price of regular, single focal contact lenses because of the multifocal technology, but this should be expected because you have been paying a higher price for your glasses compared to the price of single focal glasses.
Regular contact lenses often come with the option of colors so that you can give the appearance that you have a different color of eyes when you wear them. This is not yet available in multifocal contact lenses, but there is no doubt that it is not far away. Some day soon you may be able to change your eye color to gray if you want to.
There are a lot of reasons that people choose to wear contact lenses over glasses. Some people just enjoy not worrying about having glasses on their faces. Some people play sports and are unable to do so with glasses on. Others just think they look better without their glasses.
If you would rather wear contact lenses but you never thought you could because you wear multifocal glasses, talk with your eye doctor on your next appointment and see if you are eligible for multifocal contact lenses. Chances are you will be a good candidate and you can put your glasses in their case for good. It’s always a good idea to keep your glasses for a while, though, to make sure that you are able to adjust well to the multifocal contact lenses. Most people have no problem adjusting and you should be just fine with them.
